Before the age of technology, the gospel took much time to spread from town to town, state to state, country to country, and island to island. Fast forward to the 20th century…
Jesus said that before He comes for the church, the earth will experience an uptick in earthquakes, famines, and plagues.
The spirit of the antichrist is at work in the world today to get it ready for the coming of the Antichrist. He will rule with an iron fist and cause all to reject the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word by receiving the mark of the beast.
Does 2 Thessalonians 2:2-3 say that before the rapture happens, the great apostasy and the Antichrist has to first come?
The rapture is the event when Jesus will take the Christians to heaven to be with Him. It will not happen “until the rebellion” or apostasy, and right after that, the antichrist appears on the world stage.
If the rapture takes place right after the seven years of the Great Tribulation, then we would know the return of Jesus Christ. And we understand that the Scripture says no one can know. Why would a believer stay alert if we knew when He was coming? But, the passages make it clear that since we don’t know, all believers must be in constant readiness for the rapture. That means that Christians have to be busy doing His will and living a life of righteousness and not in sin.
The word “plagues” in Greek means: The disease. The word is in a plural form as pestilence, which means that it will spread all over the world or that it might develop different strains, making it hard to control through a vaccine.
