Exposing the spiritual landmines of the devil through the Word of God

Obeying The Prompting Of The Holy Spirit

6 They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, after being forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; 7 and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them; 8 and passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. -Acts 16:6-8, NASB

There will be times when you want to preach to someone, and the Holy Spirit will prevent you from doing so. Why would the Lord do that? Aren’t you doing God’s will? Remember, it isn’t up to you to save people from their sins. The Holy Spirit is working on each individual even before you come to them, softening their hearts to accept the gospel if they respond to the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit’s Role in peoples lives

8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment: 9 regarding sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 and regarding righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you no longer are going to see Me; 11 and regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. -John 16:8-11, NASB

If the Spirit of God tells you not to speak to someone, it might be that the person is not ready to hear it from you, as the Holy Spirit is still working in their lives, or He might have someone else for the task. Allow the Lord to direct your walk. He will always lead you to God’s Word to know God’s will, so if you feel that you are being moved away from the Scriptures, in lifestyle, or in a belief which goes against what the Bibles says, then you know that it isn’t the Holy Spirit, but a demonic spirit that wants to deceive you.

Our main goal is to tell as many people as possible, the good news of Jesus Christ. The Lord will either bring the person to you or will bring you to the person. When you feel the prompting (desire) to tell someone about Jesus, do it because God is working on them, and He has chosen you for that moment to speak His Word to that person.

God Gives You The Desire To Serve Him

for it is God who is at work in you, both to desire and to work for His good pleasure. -Philippians 2:13, NASB
