Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually.-Genesis 6:5, NASB 2020
When humanity strays way too far from God’s standard of righteousness, judgment won’t be too far off. It is very dangerous to depart from holy living, as God’s Word instructs how people should live. In the days of Noah, the people’s thoughts were so far gone that it showed the power of Satan and how destructive he is. Satan wants you to take you back to the days of Noah. The only way to be protected from the devil is by having faith in Jesus Christ, which equips us with the full armor of God. Most likely, the people in Noah’s day were equivalent to that of atheism, as seen today. An atheist characteristic matches that of the people in Noah’s day. See below.
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good.-Psalm 53:1, NASB 2020
Let’s see side by side the people spoken of Psalm 53 and Genesis 6
Here is the characteristic of an atheist in Psalm 53: The people are “corrupt”, “committed abominable injustice”, and “there is no one who does good.“
Here is the characteristic of the people of the pre-flood era of Genesis 6: “The wickedness of mankind was great”, “every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually”, and “Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence.”
13 Then God said to Noah, “The end of humanity has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of people; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14 Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with compartments, and cover it inside and out with pitch.-Genesis 6:13-14, NASB 2020
Destruction was coming upon the earth to those who have rejected God. God looked down and remembered Noah and his family. God made sure to have Noah build the ark before He would bring judgment to save his life and those with him. God knows how to rescue His own.
The ark represents salvation. It was made of wood and had a door on the side that was opened for all to escape. Noah preached God’s judgment was coming, to enter in before it would be too late. But, sadly, all rejected God’s salvation, making only a few (Noah and his family) who found the narrow door of the ark.
“and did not spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly”-2 Peter 2:5, NASB 2020
Jesus is the ark and the narrow door that saves people from the coming wrath of God.
Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.-John 14:6, NASB 2020
Jesus paid for our sins on a wooden cross. Forgiveness and grace are open to all those who will enter and accept the gift of salvation that Jesus Christ offers to everyone.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.-John 3:16, NASB 2020
There is a storm that is on its way. The door of the ark is open for you to enter. Are you willing to enter into the ark through a relationship with Jesus and tell others to come in before the flood of God’s wrath comes? The way you enter is by believing that Jesus died for your sins and on the third day, He rose from the grave and is seated at the right hand of Almighty God. Once the door is closed (the rapture), you will find yourself in the floodwaters (God’s wrath). Don’t wait, but seek the Lord while you have time.
24 “Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin standing outside and knocking on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ and He then will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’-Luke 13:24-25, NASB 2020
