To Seek The LORD’s Face

seek the Lord's face

Psalm 27:8

My heart says this about You, “You are to seek My face.” LORD, I will seek Your face.

The HCSB gives the best order of the Hebrew on this verse.

In the phrase “My heart says this about You” makes it apparent that when you hear self-counseling (talking to oneself as having two different minds) that which steers you to reason pertaining to holiness, only means that it isn’t you but the Spirit of God who resides within you. In Romans 3:11 it says, There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. But as believers, we do seek after God because He lives in us and as Philippians 2:13 says, For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose. We seek the LORD because He has changed us (New Birth) and has filled our hearts with a desire for Him through His Word.

“You are to seek My face.” The LORD’s will for all believers is to give Him your time in prayer.

The word “seek” gives the meaning of acquiring an audience with, searching, a request, a plead and to consult.

To seek the LORD’s face is to have a longing for fellowship with Him so that the relationship may be strengthened. It is also to know His will and to show through thanksgiving, the joy that God has given us by supplying all our needs.

The LORD desires this from you because it will empower your faith (Luke 18:1-8) and transform you into the image of Christ.

“LORD, I will seek Your face.” All true born again souls who are filled with the Spirit of God will from the heart reply, “yes LORD, I will seek Your face” when He calls us to have fellowship with Him.
